From Booking Through Thursday:

Do you lend your books to other people? If so, any restrictions? Yes, I lend books, and I even give away books when I’ve finished with them (usually novels).

Do you borrow books from other people? (Friends or family–I’m not talking about the public library) Occasionally. I’m the book hoarder.

(And, most importantly–do the books you lend/borrow get returned to their rightful owners??

The books I borrow, most certainly go back to their rightful owners. I make a point of reading those first before any others. Those that I lend don’t always return. One book did return to me many, many years later, when a friend had bought it from a charity stall and recognised my distinctive writing on the title page! Catalogue Card Generator via Bluestocking Knits. Thank you, each.

The same word, benthyg, is used for the verbs ‘to borrow’ and ‘to lend’ in the Welsh language.
